Conditions of Sale

Dear Brides,

We are thrilled that you have chosen dress from us for your wedding and would like to clarify a few details with you before we proceed with your next step.

SILK DRESSES

If you are buying one of our silk dresses, please be aware that these are not made to measure gowns for your individual size and will need some degree of alteration to be done once purchased. . They are bought as the sample that you have tried in the shop with regards to both size and design. We occasionally make slightly differing sizes, but this would have to be agreed in advance.

Normally the dress will need to be hemmed with the shoes on that you will be wearing for your wedding. We also need you to wear the underwear you will be wearing on the day. We prefer that you take the silk dresses to be altered by your alteration person or to one of the alteration people that we use, they are experienced in Bridal wear, and have done many of our alterations, though we take no responsibility for their fitting or their work, or the price which we suggest you discuss with them before you enter into the alterations.

Alterations prices are not included in the price of the dress.

All of our silk gowns and petticoats are made in a beautiful hand woven silk which are also hand dyed, so please be aware that there is a possibility that the colours/shades can vary slightly because of this, also there can be slight imperfections in the silk fabric due to it being hand woven and hand dyed, or sometimes a tiny pin point of a mark due to a pin can show having been used in a fitting, we do everything we possibly can to prevent this ( but please be aware) but we also ask our Brides to take care when trying the dresses so they do not get marked during fittings or alterations. Even trying on your shoes can mark the dress, We strongly advise that it is best to not to wear body lotion or makeup when coming to try for fittings or tryons at home with your dress as makeup and grease marks are very hard to get rid of.

The dresses are constantly kept in plastics to prevent damage, and we work in a carefully protected area with clean hands.

We often pack the dress hanging and roll in plastic covering to prevent damage and creasing, please tell us if you prefer flat packed in tissue. Alternatively you are welcome to provide your own dress bag but suggest you let us know of your intentions before collection.

We also ask feeding Mums to wear breast pads if they are trying dresses for obvious reasons.

The time frames for delivery are always an estimation and should be considered as such. Delivery times can vary depending on current workload and a variety of other factors. All our pieces are made individually, by hand so please be aware that while we do our best with these estimates, we cannot be held responsible if your order takes additional time.

ANTIQUE LACE DRESSES

If you are purchasing one of our Antique Lace Dresses, the laces are probably about a hundred years old and therefore imperfections are likely due to this age. We of course do our best to remove any stains and marks, and repair damage but it is not always possible. Please be prepared to accept these limitations. When working with fabrics that are 100 years old or more, they can also be extremely fragile, so please also think carefully about whether this is the right choice for your wedding.

For us, the beauty is in the age of these laces, which includes the imperfection of these unique gowns, but we understand that this is not how everyone feels, so we feel it is important for you to understand this is how we work and how the dresses are before entering into the contract of buying.

The antique lace dresses normally take only one fitting which is necessary about three months before the wedding. We agree to assist with basic alterations which may include taking in at the side, lifting at the shoulders and hem work for the slip and dress. Alterations and not covered within the cost of the dress. A minimal amount is charged to cover the time it takes to do this work. A final try on at collection is recommended so that you can make sure you are happy with the work that’s been done.

There may also be limitations in how these dresses can be altered so please be aware and understanding of this during the fitting process and listen to the advice of our team..

You as the customer are also responsible for making sure that you are happy with the condition of all items and any alterations before they are taken away. It is therefore very important that during your fitting, you will be able to completely focus on the work that is being done and inform us of anything that you wish to be noted. This is your opportunity to make sure that you’re happy with everything, so we ask that you give your full attention and before we start pinning that you are happy with the colour slip you have chosen.
